Reading Reco by Mood Guide
Looking for your next great read? There’s something here for every mood.
Sometimes when you’re looking for your next book, you have to pick something that syncs to your current vibe. It’s why I travel with several book options in case I finish my current selection. How am I supposed to know in advance what specifically I’ll want to crack open next? Impossible.
To help you find a great read that matches your current mood, I’ve compiled a curated selection of my favorite books from the past several years. They’re organized by a feel or a craving rather than grouped by genres. I can personally highly recommend all of these books, and I hope you find something you enjoy.

Here at Pink Pineapple Post, I often write about what I’m reading. Here are a few posts if you want to know more before you settle on one of the books from the Guide.
The Secret to Customer Empathy Is Novels: Scroll to the bottom to read about How to Create a Mind by Ray Kurzweil; Boy, Snow, Bird by Helen Oyeyemi; Our Mathematical Universe by Max Tegmark; plus other books on my to-read list.
Brains, War, Aliens, Spiders & Other Quirky Reading Thoughts: Get an eclectic take on a bunch of different texts I was reading around the same time, including Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harari, The Life Impossible by Matt Haig, Big Bad Wool by Leonie Swann and some irreverent kids’ books, too.
90 Days with Yuval Noah Harari: A reflection of reading three books by this brilliant author all in 2025, and what the experience did to my brain.
The Life Impossible: Longing for Ibiza: A deep-dive into this book, which has a ton of stickiness for me personally.
Reading Connections: “Real Stories & Why They Matter Now: Get a look at some of the non-fiction I’ve read recently, including Timothy Snyder’s On Tyranny and Proust and the Squid by Maryanne Wolf.
A Note on Getting Books
I’ve always loved buying books, but mostly right now I get them from the library. You probably already know this, but your library also most likely has an app for checking out digital and audible books. Also consider supporting local bookstores if you do want to buy a book.
I’ve written about my local bookstore, Hidden Chapter Books, where the owners often special order titles for customers. Happy reading!!
